Massage is an ancient therapy and is defined as the manipulation of soft tissue for therapeutic purposes. Massage has both a physiological and a psychological effect. In general the pressure movements result in a speeding up of the body’s physiology, whilst slow, gentle massage movements have a soothing effect, calming the nerves and enabling the patient to relax.

When a person is treated by conventional medicine (GP, consultant or hospital specialist) the practitioner uses their scientific knowledge to diagnose the illness and then they treat the symptoms using drugs or, in more extreme cases, with surgery.
Holistic therapy works on the principle of treating the whole person; the mind, body, emotions and the spirit. The term 'holistic' comes from the Greek word Holos meaning all, entire, total.
The therapist works with the client to establish the underlying causes of any illness they may have and then helps to bring about natural balance and harmony to the person as a whole. All treatments are tailored specifically to each individual client.
